The volumn adjusting circuit adjusts level of synthesized voice signal of a television or a video tape recorder having a voice function according to the distance from a viewer. The circuit includes a voice synthesizer (2) for synthesizing voice data recorded on a memory and for sending to a buffer (3), an amplifier (6) for amplifying and transmitting synthesized voice signal, voice signals, (S1,S2) transmitted from a video and television to a speaker (SP), a channel selecting unit (4) for selecting voice signal, a volumn controller (5) for controlling volumn of the selected voice signal and for applying to a speaker, and a decoder (7) for decoding selection signal of a selection signal controller and for sending the channel selection signal to the channel selecting unit (4).
