PURPOSE: To use 10-membered cyclic lactone as a medicine extremely effective for decrease in serum cholesterol and simultaneously good in tolerance. CONSTITUTION: A compound of the formula (R<1> and R<4> are each H or hydroxyl; R<2> and R<3> are each hydroxyl; R<5> is H, hydroxyl or oxo; R<2> and R<3> , and R<3> and R<4> can form double bonds by bonding each other respectively) has activities decreasing fat in blood and is used for production of a preparation for decreasing serum cholesterol.
