PROCESS FOR PRODUCING PHENOL ETHER

A process for the preparation of phenol ethers by reaction of phenols with alkyl sulphates at temperatures of 0 to +140 DEG C has been found by carrying out the reaction in an aqueous medium a) in the case of dialkyl sulphates and phenol: in a molar ratio of dialkyl sulphate to phenol of 0.5:1 to 0.8:1 in a pH range from 7 to 10 and then in a pH range from 10 to 12 or b) in the case of monoalkyl sulphates and phenol: in a molar ratio of monoalkyl sulphate to phenol of 1:1 to 1.6:1 in a pH range from 10 to 12. p
