PURPOSE:To effectively utilize a navigation system showing the position of a vehicle itself on a map. CONSTITUTION:In a navigation system which has a controller 1 performing the map matching based on signals from at least a bearing sensor and a vehicle speed sensor and the map data and a display section 2 displaying the data processed by the controller 1 and shows the geographical position of a vehicle itself, at least the controller 1 is made removable from the vehicle and portable.
