PURPOSE:To obtain a steering angle sensor for correctly detecting the steering angle of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A signal pattern 23 is formed by the partial change of the electromagnetic characteristic at part of the steering rack bar 8 of a steering gear box, it is read by a signal detector 16, thus the absolute position of the steering rack bar 8 is detected, and the steering angle of a turning wheel is detected.
