PURPOSE:To prevent the possibility of the erroneous operation due to a user and to shorten and facilitate the inspection process in a factory by loading an ink cartridge with a resistor and detecting a resistance value different from the ink cartridge supplied to the user. CONSTITUTION:One end of an operation mode altering resistor is earthed and the other end thereof is pulled up to be connected to an A/D converter circuit 20. Output voltage changes due to the difference in the resistance value thereof and an output voltage value is read by the A/D converter circuit 20. For example, in order to determine the intrinsic constant of a printer in a factory, an ink cartridge loaded with a resistor of 3.9kOMEGA showing a factory setting mode is inserted in the printer to perform input from the operation key of a panel. Further, at the time of the final check in the factory, an ink cartridge loaded with a resistor of 2643OMEGA is used to enter the factory setting mode to check general operation. A resistor of 8.2kOMEGA is mounted on an ink cartridge generally used by a user to be distinguished from other operation mode. |
