In the process two thermoplastic films or plates are clamped and heated on their outside faces before simultaneously being formed by separate tools. Both preformed components are then welded together under pressure. Equipment for mfr. comprises upper and lower tools with appropriate tapered sections and for raised areas which assist in forming the welded beads. A machine table between the forming tools supports an intermediate frame and a clamping frame between which the thermoplastic films/plates are held during heating and forming. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process manufactures profiled plastic components with enclosed hollow chambers, improves quality and strength, esp. along welded seams and is simpler and cheaper.
