A description is given of a method for packing compressible material, especially top or roving or similar textile material, in which the material M is accumulated in a column with a central through cavity, and in which the said column is compressed between two plates 5, 13 and bound to form a bump B or the like, the method being characterized in that the binding is done with straps R passing along the said cavity of the material.
