摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To adjust a sensor used for detecting an object in a running course of a vehicle, by using at least a predetermined minimum rate of a detection range of the sensor as a function of a measured turn input when an angle to move the detection range of the sensor is determined. CONSTITUTION: A detection device carried on a vehicle 10 sends beams 14. A course of the vehicle 10 is indicated by a line 12 of a radius R passing a center line of the vehicle 10. When the course curves away from the beams 14, a lateral shift is actually brought about between the beams 14 of a sensor and the course of the vehicle. If the beams 14 emitted from a front monitor sensor of the vehicle 10 turn into a curved course when the vehicle runs the curved course, a turning angle Y is controlled to prevent a detection loss for a vehicle 16 resulting from the valid lateral shift of the beams 14 to the course 12. In consequence, the beams 14 are turned by the angle Y whereby the valid lateral shift of the beams 14 is controlled to the course 12. A predetermined minimum detection standard for the target vehicle is achieved.</p>
