PURPOSE: To prevent a damage occurred from a fault by surely detecting the fault in the sound amplifier of a television receiver. CONSTITUTION: Voltage supplied from the sound amplifiers 48 and 50 to speakers 40 and 42 is filtered in a low pass band and is connected to a fault detector 52. Since a regular sound signal is attenuated, the detector 52 is not triggered. A stable DC component passes through a filter and trips the detector 52. The output of the detector 52 is connected to a micro processor controller 62 through the X-ray protection circuit 25 of a deflection/high voltage part 23 and a transistor 60, and the X-ray protection circuit 25 operates to turn 'off' the receiver.
