The contact sleeve or pin (17) comprises a number of contact springs fitted between a pair of axially spaced carrier elements. The contact springs are formed by equi-spaced parallel wires mounted between two parallel spaced rails before bending each wire into an identical curve so that when the carrier rails are bent round to form a cylinder the wires exhibit a radial curvature. Pref. the contact spring wires are made of a Cu/Be alloy.
