<p>PURPOSE:To sterilize medical waste and to reduce its volume by holding medical waste mainly constituted of plastics into a vessel and irradiating microwave until moisture in medical waste is heated and vaporization of moisture is completed, and thereafter circulating hot air of 140-200 deg.C to heat medical waste at the sterilization temperature. CONSTITUTION:Medical waste 6 is introduced into a housing vessel 4 and this vessel 4 is held in a closed device main body 3. Then,a microwave generator 20 is actuated to the vessel 4 to heat and vaporize moisture and also hot air is circulated through a hot air circulation line 26 having a heater 22 and a circulation block 24 for hot air. Thereby medical waste is heated and sterilized. Control of the microwave generator 20 is performed by detecting the concentration of combustible gas in exhaust gas discharged from the closed device main body 3, the concentration of gaseous hydrogen chloride, the concentration of moisture or the concentration of bromine component. Further, this control is performed by the ratio of reflected electric power and incident electric power which are detected by a power monitor connected to the waveguide 46 of the microwave generator 20.</p> |
