<p>PURPOSE:To make inspection of a device without disassembling it by passing a current, at which a neutral position energizing spring is set to the maximum and an elastic body is deformed to the maximum, and judging fatigue condition, etc., based on the rear wheel steer angle, when the steering mode is set to the inspection mode. CONSTITUTION:When a vehicle provided with a rear wheel steering mechanism 14 for steering by an electric motor 20 against an energizing force of a neutral position energizing spring 89 for rear wheels 15 comes in a repair shop, etc., the steering mode is set to the inspection mode if a condition that the vehicle speed is approx. zero and a steering wheel 11 cannot be operated is continued for a specified period. When the mode is set to the inspection mode, an electric current value of the electric motor 20 is set to a current value at which the length of the spring 89 becomes the maximum and the deformation of a sheet member, which is an elastic body provided between the spring 89 and a gear housing, becomes the maximum to steer the rear wheels. Under this condition, rear wheel steer angle is compared with a specified reference value to inspect fatigue and deterioration of the mechanical elements of the rear wheel steering mechanism.</p> |
