<p>PURPOSE:To eliminate delay of control, and achieve a smooth run control for a run control device for a vehicle for performing an acceleration/deceleration control for the vehicle based on a distance to a preceding vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A distance between a vehicle and a preceding vehicle, a vehicle velocity, and an acceleration are detected by a distance sensor 10, a velocity sensor 12, and a gravity sensor 14 respectively to be inputted to an electronic control means ECU 20. The ECU 20 calculates a predicted safe distance between the vehicles at a prediction time preliminarily detected based on the vehicle velocity, a relative velocity, and the acceleration, or determined by fuzzy inference. The predicted distance between the vehicles at the prediction time is also calculated based on the distance between the vehicles and the relative speed. A desired vehicle velocity computing means 20c calculates a desired velocity Tv=current velocity + GX(N-S) (S: gain) based on the predicted distance between the vehicles N and the predicted safe distance between the vehicles S.</p> |
