The invention relates to a procedure for making workpieces embossed or forged in a die, in which, after embossing or forging, the blank (2) has the flash removed and is subjected to machining, at least on those faces which are important for the functioning of the workpiece, and to heat treatment to alter its structure. In order to permit more rapid and more economical production of the workpieces while eliminating some of the machining operations, a path-controlled laser is used for removing the flash from the embossed or forged workpiece blank (2). The flash removal operation preferably takes place after the heat treatment of the blank with the flash still attached, the laser producing the functional surfaces of the workpiece blank in the same operation.

|
