A new coating for boat decks comprises at least two successively applied layers of a mixture of a slow- hardening, elastic epoxy resin, a hardener for the epoxy resin, and a solid granular or finely dispersed, low- density filler. The coating for boat decks 10 can be manufactured by allowing the bottom layer 12 of the mixture to harden and then applying multiple layers 14 each time the underlying layer has hardened. A special embodiment of the invention is characterized in that a colorant or pigment provided for a timber plank pattern is added to the mixture for the layer second or even third from the top; after this layer has hardened, wider 16 and narrower 18 adhesive film strips are bonded to thereto close up to one another; the wider adhesive film strips 16 are removed and the top or even penultimate layer is applied; and the narrower adhesive film strips 18 are then removed. <IMAGE>
