PURPOSE:To improve the print quality of routine printing process and draft printing process by driving an ink jet printer in a double pulse pattern when a routine printing mode is used, and in a signal pulse pattern when a draft printing mode is used, in a drive waveform switching process by which to switch the drive waveform of the ink jet printer. CONSTITUTION:The subject drive waveform switching process is designed so that a head 11 for applying a voltage to generate ink particles and a signal generation part 1 for generating signal which drives the head 11 are provided, and if a routine printing mode is used, the signal generation part 1 generates a drive signal to drive the head 11 and print data in almost circular dots. In addition, the process allows the head 11 to be driven by a generated single pulse drive signal in the draft printing mode so that data is printed in elliptical dots. |
