Bread slice covered with, e.g., sausage and/or cheese is put in a film bag, singly or with other slices, which is put into a second plastic covering and pasteurised or sterilised. Moisture from the sausage and/or cheese is withdrawn into the bread and the package is rendered germ-free. Pref., wholemeal bread is used. ADVANTAGE - Can be kept at least 4-6 weeks while tasting fresh.
