Release agent suitable for the prodn. of foamed polyurethane articles are comprises of aq. emulsions or dispersions of known release agents and conventional additives with a water content of at least 60 wt%, esp. 85-96 wt%, the water being masked by the effect of lyotropic mesomorphy. The water may be masked e.g. using a wax, fat and/or petrolatum emulsified with a masking agent assistant (I) which is esp. a surfactant with a HLB of 8 to 15, pref. 10 to 12, or a mixt. of these.
