PURPOSE: To provide a method and device which support plural command sets in a single rendering component. CONSTITUTION: When a command is received by the rendering component with a reference number 76, an inquiry is made with a reference number 78 to determine whether a proper micro code 80, 82, or 84 should be called or not. This number 78 is used also to control a local memory 92 as follows; a first state 86 is defined for a first command set supported by plural command set adapters, and a second state 88 is defined for a second command set supported by them. A special command is added to an adapter command set so that first and second states can be switched by a switch 90. |
