<p>PURPOSE:To improve the denitrifying speed of denitrifying bacteria and to prevent the damage of microorganism-immobilizing carriers by providing casings enclosing the microorganism-immobilizing carriers in a denitrifying tank in the positions parted from the bottom of the tank, providing underwater stirrers and providing an air diffuser in the bottom in a nitrifying tank. CONSTITUTION:The denitrifying bacteria are deposited at a high concn. by the charged microorganism-immobilizing carriers 10, 11 to make denitrifying treatment of the nitrogen compds. in the water to be treated passing the denitrifying tank 1 and the nitrifying tank 2. Convection is generated in the water to be treated by the stirring flow generated by the underwater stirrer 12 in the denitrifying tank 1, by which the microorganism-immobilizing carriers 10 and the water to be treated are stirred and mixed. Further, the microorganism-immobilizing carriers are enclosed by the casings 8, 9 and are kept always upper than the underwater stirrers 12, 15 and are, therefore, prevent from coming into contact with the stirrers. Oxygen is supplied by the air ejected from the air diffuser 16 in the nitrifying tank 2 and the water is made to flow convectionally by the rising and stirring flow generated by the air lift. The microorganism-immobilizing carriers 11 and the material to be treated are thus mixed and stirred.</p> |
