Reference voltage generating circuit in the A/D converter functions for error detection. Especially, error detectioncomparison corrects high-bit errors. 2N resistors are serially connected between source voltage and common voltage, outputs of course-comparators are connected to inputs of coaruse- encoder, and the outputs of encoder are connected to digital high- bits (D2,D3). Between common voltage and analog input voltage are compared in error detection comparator. The output of fine- comparator are composed of a fine encoder which is connected to digital output high-bits. This method is superior to the flash conversion circuit in respect to reduction of chip space and power consumption.
