<p>PURPOSE:To change the valve timing and the valve lift of an intake valve and an exhaust valve simultaneously and prevent the deflection of a camshaft support member by racking the camshaft support member around a rocking axial center. CONSTITUTION:An arc shaped sliding surface 224 is arranged in the intermediate part in a longitudinal direction of a connection plate 22b connecting between the upper parts of a pair of side plates 20, 21 of a camshaft support member 23. A slipper member 44b providing a guide surface 441 with which the sliding surface 224 is brought in rubbing contact is arranged on an arc shaped bridge member 29 bridging a cylinder head 3. A load adding to the connection plate 22b through a camshaft 28b from a valve system is received by the bridge member 29 and transmitted and absorbed into the cylinder head 3. The slipper member 44b can be adjusted its position in an up/down direction by a bolt 49 in order to adjust the clearance between the sliding surface 224 and the guide surface 441.</p> |
