<p>PURPOSE:To stop ignition processing with an inexpensive structure by providing ignition driving means for a resting cylinder group and a normally operating cylinder group respectively, and stopping the group ignition processing of the ignition driving means of the resting cylinder group during the operation in the resting cylinder operation mode. CONSTITUTION:When a valve stopping mechanism M is provided on a serial four-cylinder internal combustion engine, intake valves and exhaust valves can be invariably opened or closed by rocker arms 3b, 4b of the second and third cylinders serving as operating cylinders #2, #3, and the opening/closing actions of intake valves and exhaust valves can be stopped by rocker arms 3a, 4a of the first and fourth cylinders serving as resting cylinders #1, #4. Both plugs 14 of the operating cylinders #2, #3 and both plugs 14 of the resting cylinders #1, #4 are wired and connected to independent ignition driving means 34, 35 respectively. The ignition driving means 34, 35 are controlled by an ECU 24 according to the ignition timing determined based on operating conditions, and the ignition driving means 35 on the resting cylinder side is stopped when an engine is operated in the resting cylinder operation mode.</p> |
