摘要 PURPOSE:To enable cross-linking of an ethylene based polymer at high temperature and prevent the ethylene based polymer from scorching at a molding temperature of the polymer by using benzoinisobutyl ether as a cross-linking agent. CONSTITUTION:The objective cross-linking agent of an ethylene based polymer contains benzoinisobutyl ether as an active ingredient and the objective method for cross-linking the ethylene based polymer is carried out using the cross-linking agent. As the cross-linking agent, benzoinisobutyl ether is used in an amount of normally 0.5-10wt.%, preferably 1-3wt.% based on the ethylene based polymer. The ethylene based polymer to be cross-linked includes high-density polyethylene or low-density polyethylene and a cross-linking accelerator includes triallyl cyanurate or triallyl isocyanurate. the cross-linking accelerator is used in an amount of 0.1-2wt.% based on the ethylene based polymer. The cross-linking temperature is generally 200-250 deg.C. A cross-linking temperature of <200 deg.C is economically disadvantageous, because cross-linking rate becomes slow.
