The non-contact ink pen of a type that can be hand held and used for writing on various materials, has ink supplied through a tube to a chamber with an electromechanical drive stage (2). A controlled connection is made (3) to sealing element (4) built into the nozzle (5). The seal is open and closed by excitation of the actuator. The ink within the chamber is subjected to a controlled pressure and the electromechanical drive is operated at a controlled frequency to allow ink to be delivered from the nozzle. A battery supplies (8) the required power. USE/ADVANTAGE - Provides ink jet printing or writing in manual form.
