According to this process a pulsed laser beam is emitted out of the contaminated area (at 12), this beam is transported as far as a location close to the said surface and, at this location, the beam is amplified (at 15) and the amplified beam is directed onto the said surface. Application to the decontamination of the primary circuit of pressurised-water nuclear reactors.
