There is a widespread unwillingness to use loudspeaker telephones. This is due among other things to the fact that it is complicated to learn how to use the loudspeaker function and the fact that people are often uncertain whether the telephone has been hung up after using the loudspeaker function and the fact that people are often frightened of disconnecting the call when changing between loudspeaker function and receiver function. The invention solves this problem by the position of the telephone automatically controlling and indicating which function is activated. Figure 1 shows the apparatus in ôhung-up positionö. Figure 2 shows the apparatus in ôreceiver positionö. When the apparatus is lifted up from the base the line is automatically connected. Figure 3 shows the apparatus in ôloudspeaker positionö. The apparatus is switched automatically to loudspeaker function when it is placed ôon its backö. The microphone and loudspeaker volume are now set for loudspeaker function.
