METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SIZE OF ULTRAHIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT POLYOLEFIN ROD

PURPOSE:To obtain a molded item with a const. diameter and excellent appearance by automatizing control of the size of ultrahigh mol.wt. polyolefin rod extruded from a die of an extruder and performing highly accurate control with labor saving. CONSTITUTION:A laser sensor 16 which radiates a laser to an ultrahigh mol.wt. polyolefin rod 12 extruded from a die 11 and measures the size of the rod 12 from the amt. of receiving the light is positioned between the die of an extruder 11 and a sizer 13 controlling the size of the rod to measure the size of the rod 12. The output frequency is converted by means of an inverter 19 provided as an electric source for a motor 18 with a speed reducer driving a take-off roller 17 and the motor 18 is controlled in its frequency.
