<p>PURPOSE:To produce an electric resistance welded steel tube for machine struc ture excellent in machinability by preparing a steel having a specific composition where respective contents of S, O, Sn, and Sb are specified. CONSTITUTION:A steel having a composition consisting of, by weight, 0.02-0.60% C, <=0.4% Si, 0.20-2.0% Mn, <=0.030% p, <=0.040% S, 0.001-0.030% T. Al, 0.0020-0.0100% N, <=0.0060% O, further <=0.050%, in total, of 0.002-0.04% Sn and/or 0.002-0.040% Sb, and the balance iron with inevitable impurities is prepared. By using this steel, the electric resistance welded steel tube excellent in machinability can be obtained without causing remarkable deterioration in mechanical properties, cold workability, electric resistance properties, UST yield after electric resistance welding, etc.</p> |
