The loading shovel (6) deposits heaps of material on to the conveyor (2) by means of a pair of pendulum swinging scraper arms (16) pivotted on opposite sides (12) of the shovel. The arms (10) are fixed to profiled flat trays (17) and the arms together with the trays swing in towards the conveyor. The trays slide under a pair of loading arms (9) so that at the end of their path their leading edges (21) finish adjacent to the sides of the conveyor. The free ends (10) of the arms (16) have a steep and deep leading face (18) which slopes sharply down from the top edge of the face towards the back (19), and the shovel has an upturned edge (20) at its perimeter. USE/ADVANTAGE - Greater width of shovel permits bigger loading capacity.
