PURPOSE:To provide the objective lubricant which is not problematic in frequent oil exchange and engine stop otherwise occurring in such a way that the lubricating oil deteriorates, increases its viscosity and lowers in lubricating properties under the influence of the high-temperature gas and nitric acid formed when a combustion gas containing NOx leaks through the gap between the piston cylinder and the cylinder liner into the oil pan or the crankcase, and the leaked NOx is mixed with the water vapor or moisture present therein to cause an increase in the coefficient of friction of the sliding surface of the internal combustion engine, a loss of its output, an increased consumption of a fuel gas and sometimes engine stop. CONSTITUTION:Fine-pieces of coal- or coal-pitch-derived carbon fibers and a nonionic dispersant are added to a lubricating oil for an internal combustion engine using city gas as a fuel.
