BULKING PREVENTING AGENT OF ACTIVATED SLUDGE

PURPOSE:To effectively prevent the bulking of activated sludge without damaging beneficial bacteria of activated sludge by using a pyrazolopyrimidine derivative suppressing the conversion of filamentous bacteria in activated sludge to a filamentous state as an effective component. CONSTITUTION:Since filamentous bacteria grow in a filamentous state, the bacteria have function crosslinking flocs in activated sludge and the compactness of activated sludge is lost and the sludge is swollen and becomes bad in sedimentation properties to become the so-called bulking state. present activated sludge has almost no problem in the decomposition capacity of org. matter becoming the object of BOD prescription and org. matter in water to be treated is decomposed even when the activated sludge is in a bulking state and there is no problem from an aspect of operation control so far as the swelling phenomenon of sludge is eliminated. Herein, a pyrazolopyrimidine derivative having effect specifically suppressing only the conversion of filamentous bacteria to a filamentous state without exerting effect on the growth of useful bacteria in activated sludge is used as the effective component of a bulking preventing agent.
