<p>The invention concerns an overlock sewing machine combining the possibility of producing, in addition to different kinds of overlock stitch types or safety stitch combinations, a double chain stitch. The double chain stitch is stitch type 406 (ISO). The overlock stitch types or safety stitches which can be produced are 503, 504, 509, 512, 514, 401.503, 401.504 (ISO). In order to achieve this objective, the overlock sewing machine must have in one row of operation the possibility of fastening two needles (N1 and N2) side by side in the direction of the row, as well as an upper looper (L1) and a lower looper (L2) cooperating with these needles. Of these loopers, at least the upper looper must be convertible into a spreader. The upper looper is arrangeable in an inoperative state under the throat plate (8). There must also be a possibility to attach two additional needles (N3, N4) in a second row of operation in front of the aforementioned row of operation in the advancing direction of stitching, which are side by side in the direction of the row, and which cooperate with a lower looper (L3).</p> |
