PURPOSE:To exactly recognize a character frame by detecting the character frame without putting restrictions on print color of an input form and connecting disconnected segments in the case of disconnection of segments of the character frame printed in half-tone print color. CONSTITUTION:Picture data read by a read scanning part 41 is converted to a multilevel quantization pattern, where this data is divided into (integer) X(integral pieces of squares), by a quantizing circuit, and a density processing part 45 uses a density value table 44, which emphasizes the connectivity in the (x) direction or the (y) direction of the quantization pattern, to determine the density value of each picture element 45. |
