摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration in the accuracy of flange thicknesses caused by the positional deviations of rolls arranged in a universal rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:Before a rough shape piece having an H-shape section obtained by executing breakdown roughing is rolled, the flange thickness of the rough shape piece is measured by a hot dimension measuring machine 5 arranged adjacent to the rough universal mill 2 at least four places, upper and lower, right and left. From this measured result, positional deviations in the directions of the roll shafts of upper and lower horizontal rolls 17, deviations of the roll openings in right and left vertical rolls 18 and deviation of the center of a space between upper and lower rolls to the central position of the roll bodies of the vertical rolls 18 are calculated and the position of each roll is changed so that these deviations are kept in zero or a tolerance range. After this positional change, the rough shape piece is rolled once or more through the rough universal mill.</p>
