A digital electronic switch that is intended to be accessed via the intermediary of a computer or microcontroller and which is used for security purposes, requires, for convenience or greater security, that it be capable of being linked in cascade with other similar switches, it being necessary that all of them are able to be addressed separately. Accordingly, a state machine was created controlled by the lines 5 and 6, line 6 interrupted by the buffer 13 when not intending to address the following switches in cascade. In addition, when it communicates with the memory 12 of a switch, the data lines 7 and 8 remain isolated from the output gate 4, via two buffers 14 and 15, so as not to have any conflicts. In a very special way, this switch can be used for protecting computer applications, for controlling door opening mechanisms and for metering use of a photocopier. <IMAGE>
