A measuring device (5) detects the planar clamping force exerted on a rotor by a clamp element surface (2) perpendicular to the rotor axis (A) and/or the radial clamping force exerted on the rotor by an outwardly-acting radial clamp. The planar clamping force measuring device (5) uses a deformable ring which has a number of force measuring elements spaced at equal distances around the rotor axis, with diametrically opposing annular bearing surfaces (14,15) contacting the rotor and the surface (2) of the clamp element.
