PRODUCTION OF OPTICAL FIBER PREFORM

摘要

PURPOSE:To produce an optical fiber preform having a set outer diameter at low cost. CONSTITUTION:A porous optical fiber preform 1 having almost the set outer diameter is produced. The outer diameter of the preform 1 is measured at the positions in its longitudinal directions. A fine glass particle 3 is deposited from an optical fiber preform producing burner 2 on the part 1a having a smaller diameter than the set value to attain the set outer diameter.
