PURPOSE:To obtain a high-quality product by rolling while supplying a lubricant contg. the specific quantity of high basic calcium sulfonate in the rolling of a steel material using work rolls having a chromium (alloy) plated layer on the surface of the roll barrel part. CONSTITUTION:In the rolling of the steel material 3 using the work rolls 2 having the chromium (alloy) plated layer on the surface of the roll barrel part, the rolling is executed while supplying the lubricant contg. high basic calcium sulfonate of 20 to 70wt.%. As chromium alloy plating, there are Cr-Ni, Cr-W, etc., and it means that the alloys contain Cr of >=50%. Since the high basic calcium sulfonate is excellent in heat resistance in the case of using this as the lubricant, this is not perfectly burned or discomposed even at the hot rolling work of the steel material 3, present in the fluid or the state approaching fluid and contributes to the lubrication. In this way, roll wear is reduced, roll life is drastically prolonged and the high-quality product is obtained. |
