PURPOSE:To realize a collimator equipped with an excellent directional property and enhanced beam-emitting capability by a method wherein a slit is provided to arrest useless atoms astray between a beam-emitting end and a masking plate for the removal of unnecessary radiation leaking from the collimator path where through atoms are guided. CONSTITUTION:In front of the beam-emitting end 2a of a collimator 2, a masking plate 14 is installed wherein a fine aperture 15 is provided to face the beam- emitting end 2a across a very fine gap L positioned between them. The atom vapor traveling in a fine tube 11 strikes the inner walls of the fine tube 11 and upon reaching a high density a part thereof escapes at the exit end of the fine tube 11 to scatter in undesired directions. The unnecessary emission of atoms 17 is trapped in a fine slit L between the collimator end 23 and the masking plate 14 and therefore are stopped from going out of a fine aperture 15. The result is a beam 16 with excellent directionality passing through the fine aperture 15. |
