PURPOSE: To facilitate the electrical leak detection of a pinhole in the titled lining of a reservoir and the like, by forming a thermoplastic liner by a soft upper plastic layer and a soft and electrically conductive lower plastic layer, and establishing the electric potential between a probe in the reservoir and the lower plastic layer. CONSTITUTION: The lining is executed to an outdoor fluid containment area 10 by using a water impermeable plastic sheet or thermoplastic liner 12 having a bottom 14 and a side wall 16. This liner 12 is made of a material of uniform density comprising a lower layer 24 to be contacted with the fluid containment area 18 and an upper layer 22, and the lower layer 24 is made of a conductive plastic. A spark discharge probe 26 connected to a voltage source 28 is moved across the liner 12 for detecting the spark discharge between the probe 26 and the lower layer 24 to detect the electrical leak. This lower layer 24 is formed by adding a conductive filler such as carbon black and the like to plastic. |
