Method and tool for compiling code in digital computers

The present invention relates to compilers for digital computer programs, and more particularly to a compiler framework that is adapted to be used with a number of different computer languages, to generate code for a number of different target machines. It is essentially characterized by comprising the steps of: accessing a specified program in an input module in code; generating an intermediate language flow graph; accessing this graph to optimize the program; and generating object code for the flow graph. The invention further relates to a compiler of code and a method for constructing a constant folding optimizer.
