PURPOSE: To reactivate an activated charcoal catalyst by heating an activated charcoal catalyst employed in the preparation of 1,1,1,2,3,3,3-heptafluoropropane (R227) to a specified temp. range ( deg.C) in an inert gas or under a reduced pressure. CONSTITUTION: 1,1,1,2,3,3,3-Heptafluoropropane (R227) is utilized as a substitute for perfectly halogenized chlorofluorocarbon which exposes ozone to danger. At the time of preparing R227 from hexafluoropropane and HF, activated charcoal is used as a catalyst. In this case, the activated charcoal catalyst is heated at 450 to 900 deg.C in the stream of an inert gas or under a reduced pressure. Moreover, the heating temp. is preferably set to 550 to 800 deg.C or 600 to 800 deg.C. Furthermore, the heating is executed by microwave irradiation. As the inert gas, nitrogen is used.
|
