PURPOSE:To reduce the wear, seizure and surface roughening of a tungsten- contg. roll for rolling by supplying a lubricant compsn. contg. a specific ratio of high basicity Ca sulfonate in a presence of water. CONSTITUTION:The high basicity Ca sulfonate is produced by bringing Ca sulfonate which is the Ca salt of the petroleum sulfonic acid obtd. by alkyl arom. sulfonation further into reaction with CaO or Ca(OH)2 in the presence of carbon dioxide, etc. This Ca sulfonate contains excess Ca of 3 to 15 times the concn. of a normal salt and is dispersed in oil in colloidal state of >=150Angstrom grain size in the form of mainly calcium carbonate. The high basicity Ca sulfonate reacts with the tungsten in the roll structure and CaWO4 crystal precipitate on the roll surface when the lubricant compsn. contg. the high basicity Ca sulfonate at 20 to 70wt.% of the total weight of the compsn in a presence of water at the time of rolling by the tungsten-contg. roll for rolling. The corrosion, surface roughening and wear of the surface are thus lessened. |
