PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester film improved in percent of stretch and having high strength and high modulus of elasticity by incorporating a specified amount of a specified aromatic compound into a polyester resin, forming a film from the mixture, and uniaxially or biaxially stretching the film. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. polyester resin is mixed with 0.1-10 pts.wt. compound of formula I wherein R is alkyl or alkoxy; R' is hydrocarbon; m and n are each such an integer that m+n is 0 to 3; p and r are each such an integer that p+r is 1 or 2; q is 0 or 1; X is a group of formula II, -S-, a group of formula III, or -O-; and R1 and R2 are each H or 4C or lower alkyl or compound of formula IV wherein B1 and B2 are each 3-18C alkyl or alkoxy; and A is a divalent aliphatic hydrocarbon, alicyclic hydrocarbon or aromatic hydrocarbon, group. The obtained resin composition is formed into film and then uniaxially or biaxially stretched to produce a polyester film.
