摘要 By appropriately designing a flash tube, spraying of abrasive on the vessel walls and impinging the multiphase jet on the bottom of the vessel are minimized. By appropriately designing a flash vessel, once the flash tube has been designed, a slurry pool is provided having a volume that is sufficient to dissipate the flash tube exit jet momentum and the mass of entrained carry-over products exiting from the vapour outlet is minimized. An apparatus is claimed for reducing pressure of a slum comprising a flash vessel, whose dimensions are selected to minimize a mass of carry-over products, a wear-resistant pressure let down flash tube is mounted in the inlet of the vessel to let down pressure and release energy, wherein dimensions are selected such that pressure at an exit of the tube is greater than, but not more than, 1. 2 times a pressure in the flash vessel, and a volume of ore slum in a slum pool with a depth selected to be sufficient to dissipate momentum of an exit jet from the flash tube such that an impingement velocity is zero at the bottom of the vessel. A method is claimed for determining dimensions of a flash vessel comprising receiving initial values, generating a numerical model, simulating a pressurized slum entering a slum vessel by a flash tube, generating a revised model, and resimulating the slurry entering the vessel.
