<p>PURPOSE:To prevent a refractory wall of a burning furnace from being damaged in adding fluorite in producing lime-based flux by suppressing reaction between fluorite and brick. CONSTITUTION:Fluorite and limestone are ground into <=1mm size, stone 5-60wt.% fluorite is contained, the fluorite and the line-stone are granulated into 5mm-20mm and burnt at 900 deg.C-1,000 deg.C. The lime-based flux thus obtained is made into a low-melting slag forming agent which is fed to a smelted metal in a metal refining furnace such as a converter or an electric furnace and is reacted with sulfur components and phosphate components in the molten metal and used to promote formation of metal slag. Lime stone may be partially replaced with slaked lime or the whole amount may be slaked lime. Lime stone may be replaced with lime cake and slaked lime may be made into carbide slag to actualize reuse of industrial waste. Temperature during production of flux is dropped and fuel unit can be reduced.</p> |
