PURPOSE:To provide the method for detecting or discriminating an alive target individual in a nucleic acid level or for measuring the number of the individuals. CONSTITUTION:A probe produced by labeling a non-natural nucleic acid modified so as to enable to pass through cell membranes and nuclear membranes is incorporated into an alive cell, and the hybrid product of a target nucleic acid with the probe formed when the target nucleic acid is contained in the alive cell is detected with the label of the probe.
