Support for wet cylinder liner in IC engine

The cylinder liner is supported on stops, via an axially flexible intermediate layer. The layer is formed by one or more metallic rings (11,12), which also contribute to cooling medium sealing.The ring has been pressure-charged with an axially directed calibration force. This is larger than the max. axial pressure occuring between the stops (6,7,8,9) during operation of the engine, so that the ring is only deformed elastically.
